Description
Custom Keyway Mounted Polyurethane Wheels for Drive Shafts – H7 Bore, DIN 6885 Keyway, Chemically Bonded PU Tread on Steel Core for Conveyor Drives, AGV Steering Units and Transfer Carts
Our custom keyway mounted polyurethane wheels for drive shafts are built for positive torque transmission: the machined keyway locks the wheel directly onto the drive shaft, so it rotates with the shaft instead of slipping under load. Compared with plain-bore or friction-fit wheels, this design removes the need for set screws and secondary locking devices, cutting loose parts, shaft wear and unplanned downtime in conveyor drives, AGV steering units, transfer carts and industrial caster assemblies. Every wheel is cast and finish-machined in our own ISO9001 factory in China, and hardness, H7 bore tolerance and PU-to-core bonding strength are recorded batch by batch, with material test reports supplied on request. Chemically bonded cast PU with a Shore A 70–98 hardness range reaches a bond strength of at least 8 N/mm², giving the wear resistance and the low rolling noise that steel and nylon wheels cannot match. As a top professional OEM/ODM manufacturer, we offer these keyway mounted drive wheels for sale at wholesale price across a wide range of diameters, bore sizes and keyway dimensions, and we are glad to give expert advice and price suggestions for your specific market and application.
Why Choose This Keyway Mounted Polyurethane Wheel
The keyway is the feature that sets this wheel apart. We machine the bore and keyway to your drawing with an H7 bore tolerance and a keyway cut to DIN 6885 or your own specification, so the wheel seats correctly on the first assembly instead of needing shims or rework. In daily operation, reversing loads and frequent start-stop duty no longer work the wheel loose, protecting both the shaft and the gearbox behind it.
The polyurethane tread is the second reason customers choose this design. We cast the PU directly onto a carbon steel, stainless steel or aluminium core using a chemical bonding process, producing a bond strength of at least 8 N/mm², considerably higher than a simple press-fit rubber tyre. That bond, combined with a Shore A hardness range of 70 to 98, delivers the wear resistance, load capacity and low rolling noise that steel and nylon wheels cannot match, which means quieter operation, longer service intervals and a lower total cost of ownership.
Typical applications: Conveyor drives, AGV steering units, transfer carts, industrial caster assemblies, packaging lines, logistics automation and heavy-load drive shafts.
As a China-based factory and OEM/ODM supplier, we provide customizable keyway mounted polyurethane wheels with your choice of hardness, core material (steel, stainless steel or aluminium) and keyway dimensions. Wholesale orders and customized samples are welcome for global industrial projects.

We offer customization from PU hardness (Shore A 70–98) to core materials (carbon steel, stainless steel 304/316, aluminium alloy) and keyway dimensions. Our products are tested to meet ISO9001 standards, supporting reliable performance for your drive shafts, conveyor drives and automated transport systems. Wholesale orders are welcome with competitive direct pricing.
Customers typically come to us when off-the-shelf wheels do not fit their shaft, carry enough load, or last long enough in service. We solve those problems by machining to your drawing, recommending the right PU grade for your duty cycle, and controlling quality at each production step rather than only at final inspection.
Factory & Equipment
Our Factory Workshop with Professional Equipment for PU Drive Wheel Manufacturing

Our production lines include CNC lathes and machining centres for core turning and keyway cutting, vacuum PU casting equipment, curing ovens, and finishing stations for surface grinding and chamfering. Inspection equipment covers digital hardness testers, coordinate measuring instruments, dynamic balancing test benches and a tensile testing machine for bond strength checks. This combination lets us hold tight tolerances on both the metal core and the keyway while keeping the polyurethane tread consistent from the first piece to the last.
Our Quality Certifications (ISO9001, RoHS, Testing Reports)

Our factory operates under ISO9001 quality management, and our polyurethane compounds can be supplied with RoHS and REACH compliance documentation where required. For every production batch we can issue a material test report covering hardness, dimensional check and PU-to-core bond strength. Third-party inspection by SGS, BV or your nominated agent is welcome, and we are happy to host customer visits and factory audits at any stage of a project.

Frequently Asked Questions – Keyway Mounted Polyurethane Drive Wheels
1. Can you machine the keyway to match my shaft and key size?
Yes. Send us the shaft diameter, shaft tolerance, key width and key height, and we will machine the bore and keyway to suit, normally to DIN 6885 or your own drawing specification. Standard bore tolerance is H7 with a keyway of +0.10 / 0 mm, and we can hold tighter tolerances if your assembly requires it.
2. What is the minimum order quantity for custom keyway mounted polyurethane wheels?
For fully custom sizes the typical minimum order quantity is 20 pieces. For sizes we already produce regularly, the MOQ can be lower. If you are evaluating the design, we can also supply a small trial batch so you can test fit and performance before committing to volume.
3. How do I choose the right polyurethane hardness for my drive shaft application?
As a general guide, Shore A 80–90 suits conveyor drives and general material handling where grip and quiet running matter, while Shore A 90–98 is better for high-load drive shafts and abrasive floors. Heavier loads, higher speeds and rougher surfaces all point towards a harder, more abrasion-resistant grade. Share your load per wheel, running speed and floor condition and our engineers will recommend a specific grade rather than leaving you to guess.
4. Can this wheel be retrofitted onto existing drive shafts or equipment?
In most cases yes. Retrofitting normally only requires matching the bore and keyway to the existing shaft, and keeping the outer diameter and width within the clearance available on your machine. Send us a drawing or a photo of the current assembly and we will confirm whether a direct replacement is possible or whether a small modification is needed.
5. Do you support OEM, ODM and private labelling for keyway mounted drive wheels?
We do. We can cast your brand marking into the wheel, machine your part number onto the core face, print your logo on the packaging, and produce to your own drawing under an OEM or ODM arrangement. Custom colours, custom packaging and custom carton labelling are all available for wholesale and distributor orders.
6. What is the typical delivery time and how are the wheels packed?
Standard custom wheels usually ship within 10 to 25 working days after drawing confirmation, depending on quantity and current production load. Wheels are packed individually in protective wrapping with cardboard or wooden separators, then loaded into export-grade cartons or plywood cases suitable for sea, air and courier shipping.
7. What payment methods do you accept, and do you offer a warranty?
We normally work with T/T bank transfer, and can discuss other arrangements for long-term customers. All wheels are covered by a limited warranty against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship, and if a batch does not meet the agreed drawing or hardness specification we will replace it. We would rather solve a problem quickly than lose a customer over it.
8. How do you ensure PU-to-core bonding quality on keyway mounted drive wheels?
We cast the PU directly onto the steel or aluminium core using a chemical bonding process with no adhesive film, achieving a bond strength of at least 8 N/mm². Each batch is tested for hardness, dimensional accuracy and core bond integrity before packing, and we welcome third-party inspection or your own QC visit to our plant. We also keep testing data for every production run, so you can trace exactly which batch your wheels came from.
9. What is your purchasing process for custom keyway wheels?
Send us your requirements (shaft diameter, key size, wheel diameter, width, load, PU hardness). Our engineers review your drawing, confirm feasibility and issue a proforma invoice. After payment, production begins, and we keep you updated with production photos and a pre-shipment inspection before dispatch.
