Description
Custom Heavy Duty Polyurethane Wheels for Farm Carts – Cast PU Tread on Cast Iron or Steel Core, 200–1,500 kg Load, Oil and Mud Resistant for Agricultural Trailers and Feed Trolleys
Why choose these polyurethane farm cart wheels?
A farm cart works in conditions that destroy ordinary wheels: mud, slurry, sharp gravel, chemical fertilizers and long hours under heavy loads. These heavy duty polyurethane wheels are engineered for exactly that environment, and the difference is measurable rather than theoretical. The cast tread is chemically bonded onto a metal core, so it does not peel or delaminate under repeated impact, and a polyurethane wheel of the same diameter typically carries two to three times the load of a rubber wheel, keeping the cart low and stable without oversized wheels.
Diameter, width, hardness, tread profile, bore, keyway and bearing type are all made to your drawing or sample, so the wheel fits the axle the first time. As a China factory with more than ten years of export experience, we hold ISO 9001 certification, run in-house hardness and load testing, and support third-party inspection before shipment.
Typical applications: farm carts, feed trolleys, agricultural trailers, harvesters, material handling equipment and other off-road transport running on soil, mud or wet concrete.

Details Images – Construction & Application
Each wheel is machined after casting, so the running surface stays concentric with the bore and the wheel rolls without wobble. The polyurethane layer is typically 15 mm to 40 mm thick, thick enough to cushion shock loads yet thin enough to keep rolling resistance low on long working days.
- Tread surface. A smooth tread suits concrete and paved floors; a crowned or grooved tread gives better grip and self-cleaning performance in mud and loose soil.
- Core and bore. The cast iron or steel core is machined to tolerance and can include a keyway, locking collar or grease nipple as requested.
- Bearing assembly. Sealed ball bearings suit normal farm cart speeds; tapered roller bearings are available for heavy towed trailers with high radial and side loads.
- Surface finish. Colour pigments are mixed into the polyurethane rather than painted, so the colour does not wear off in use.
- Marking. Cast-in or laser-marked part numbers and batch codes help you track replacement intervals and keep spare parts consistent.
Material Properties – Farm Cart Polyurethane Compound
| Property | Typical value | Test standard |
|---|---|---|
| Hardness | Shore A 85–95 | ASTM D2240 |
| Tensile strength | 35–50 MPa | ASTM D412 |
| Tear strength | 60–90 kN/m | ASTM D624 |
| Abrasion loss | 30–50 mm³ | DIN 53516 |
| Rebound resilience | 40–55 % | ASTM D2632 |
| Compression set | Below 25 % | ASTM D395 |
| Oil and fuel resistance | Good | In-house immersion test |
| Operating temperature | -30 °C to +80 °C | — |
A higher Shore A value gives greater load capacity and lower rolling resistance but less grip on wet ground. For farm carts working mainly on soil and mud, we usually recommend Shore A 88–92 as a balanced starting point. Custom hardness from Shore A 85 to 95 is available from our factory.

Frequently Asked Questions – Polyurethane Farm Cart Wheels
1. Can you manufacture polyurethane wheels to fit our existing farm cart axles?
Yes. Send us the axle diameter, hub width, required wheel diameter and the load per wheel, or simply a drawing or sample. Our engineering team will confirm the bore, keyway, bearing type and polyurethane hardness, then produce a sample for your field test before mass production. This keeps the wheel matched to your cart the first time and avoids costly rework.
2. What is the minimum order quantity for custom heavy duty polyurethane wheels?
For customized sizes, our normal minimum is around 50 to 100 pieces per specification, depending on mould complexity. Standard sizes can often be supplied in smaller trial quantities. Tell us your target volume and we will suggest the most economical arrangement with a clear wholesale price.
3. How long does production and delivery take?
Samples usually take about 10 to 15 days. Mass production is typically 15 to 30 days after sample approval and deposit, depending on quantity and season. Sea freight to most markets adds three to five weeks. We will confirm a realistic schedule with your order confirmation and keep you informed of any change.
4. Which polyurethane hardness is best for farm cart wheels?
It depends on where the cart runs. On concrete and paved surfaces, Shore A 92–95 reduces rolling resistance and carries more load. On soil, mud and uneven ground, Shore A 85–90 gives better grip and absorbs shock. For mixed use, Shore A 88–92 is the practical middle ground, and we can supply two different grades in one order if you run different cart types.
5. How do you control quality, and what certifications do you hold?
Our factory operates an ISO 9001 certified quality system. Each batch is checked for hardness, dimensions, run-out and load performance, and test records are retained for traceability. RoHS compliant compounds are available on request. We can also arrange third-party inspection such as SGS or BV before shipment if your purchasing process requires it.
6. Do you offer OEM, ODM and private label services?
Yes. We support OEM and ODM projects, including custom colours, branded packaging, cast-in logos and your own part numbering. Our team can also act as an OBM partner for distributors who want a ready range under their own brand in the agricultural equipment market.
7. What payment methods and shipping terms do you accept?
We normally work on a 30 % deposit with the balance against copy of the bill of lading, by T/T. Other terms can be discussed for long-term partners. Shipping is arranged by sea, air or express courier, and we handle FOB, CIF and door-to-door delivery according to your preference.
8. What warranty do you provide on these wheels?
We guarantee our wheels against manufacturing defects such as core separation, incorrect hardness and dimensional errors for 12 months from shipment. Wear rate naturally depends on load, surface and usage hours, so we review any claim together with the application details and will replace defective items where the cause is on our side.
9. How does the cast polyurethane tread hold up against mud, slurry, fertilizer and UV exposure?
The cast PU compound used on these farm cart wheels is formulated for outdoor agricultural duty. Abrasion loss stays in the 30–50 mm³ range under DIN 53516 testing, and the material keeps its shape after long contact with water, slurry and common fertilizer solutions. UV stabilizers are added to slow surface chalking, and because the pigment is mixed through the whole tread rather than painted on, colour and hardness remain consistent as the wheel wears. If your carts are exposed to concentrated chemicals, tell us the medium and we will recommend a compound grade suited to it.
