Description

Custom Static Dissipative Polyurethane Wheels for PCB Assembly

These custom static dissipative polyurethane wheels are engineered for PCB assembly lines, SMT handling carts and cleanroom transfer trolleys, where one uncontrolled electrostatic discharge can scrap a board that has already passed several production stages. The tread is cast from a conductive carbon-black polyurethane compound that holds surface resistivity in the 10⁶ to 10⁹ ohm range, so static charge bleeds away through the wheel instead of building up and jumping into sensitive components. Because we machine the core and cast the polyurethane in our own workshop in China, every wheel is built to your axle size, load requirement and resistivity target rather than adapted from a standard catalogue item.

Compared with standard insulating rubber or plain PU wheels, a conductive tread removes a hidden risk in ESD-protected areas: an insulated wheel can hold a charge for hours and release it the moment a board or an operator touches the frame. Our compound keeps that charge moving to ground, which means fewer unexplained board failures, less rework and a cleaner audit trail during customer ESD inspections. Each production batch is measured with a surface resistance meter and the readings can travel with your shipment, so your quality team has documented evidence rather than a generic promise. Tell us your cart weight, floor surface and running speed, and we will give you expert advice on hardness, hub design and the right resistivity grade before you commit to a bulk order.

Why Choose Our Static Dissipative PU Wheels for PCB Assembly

Most buyers come to us after a standard wheel has already caused trouble on an ESD-sensitive line. These are the points that matter most when you compare suppliers.

  • Conductive through the whole tread, not just the surface. Carbon black is dispersed through the cast polyurethane, so resistivity stays stable as the wheel wears instead of fading away after the first few months of service.
  • Resistivity checked batch by batch. A surface resistance meter reading is recorded for every production lot, which gives your ESD coordinator real data for internal and customer audits.
  • Machined cores in steel, stainless steel or aluminium. A properly machined core keeps radial and lateral runout low, so trolleys track straight and PCB magazines do not rattle on the rails.
  • Shore A 70 to 95 hardness options. Softer grades grip smooth epoxy floors and cut noise in manual handling areas, while harder grades reduce rolling resistance on heavy automated carts.
  • Non-marking, low-particle formulation. Suitable for areas close to stencil printing, conformal coating and cleanroom-adjacent PCB assembly.
  • Full customization. Diameter, width, bore, keyway, bearing type, colour and branding are all made to order, including small trial runs.
As a China-based factory and OEM/ODM supplier, we cast and machine these static dissipative PU wheels to your resistivity target, with steel, stainless steel or aluminium cores, Shore A 70–95 hardness, and bearing or keyway hubs. Wholesale orders, custom samples and long-term OBM programmes are welcome for global electronics assembly projects.

Technical Specifications – Custom Static Dissipative PU Wheels for PCB Assembly

The table below covers the range we produce most often for electronics assembly. As a China OEM/ODM manufacturer, we support customized sizes, resistivity grades and core materials. Every line can be adjusted to your drawing, and all final values are confirmed on the approved sample before mass production begins.

Parameter Typical specification
Application PCB assembly lines, SMT handling carts, ESD-protected transfer trolleys
Tread compound Conductive carbon-black polyurethane, antistatic grade
Surface resistivity 10⁶ to 10⁹ ohm, measured per batch
Tread hardness Shore A 70 to 95, selected to your floor and load
Core material Steel, stainless steel or aluminium, CNC machined to drawing
Wheel diameter 50 mm to 200 mm standard, other sizes on request
Wheel width 20 mm to 60 mm
Hub and bore Plain bore, keyway, ball bearing or custom hub
Load per wheel Up to 500 kg depending on diameter and core design
Operating temperature -20 °C to +70 °C
Colour Black for conductive grades, other colours on request
Minimum order 50 pieces per size, lower for trial orders
Lead time Typically 15 to 30 days after sample approval
Quality system ISO 9001 factory with batch inspection records

One point worth noting for high-load applications: a 150 mm polyurethane wheel with a machined steel core and a Shore A 90 tread often works better than a larger, softer wheel, because it keeps the cart low while still carrying the load. Send us the cart weight, floor surface and running speed, and we will give you a specific suggestion on the combination that lasts longest in your PCB assembly layout.

Material Performance at a Glance

The readings below describe how the compound behaves in real production on an ESD-sensitive line, not just on a data sheet. We measure every one of these points on our own casting floor in China and can share the batch readings with your quality team.

Property What it delivers on your line
Surface resistivity 10⁶ to 10⁹ ohm Static charge drains through the wheel instead of building up on insulated parts, protecting boards during transfer.
Shore A 70 to 95 hardness Softer grades absorb vibration and cut noise, while harder grades lower rolling resistance on heavy carts.
Low abrasion loss in DIN 53516 testing The tread keeps its profile and its conductivity for longer, so wheels are replaced less often.
Low compression set under sustained load A loaded cart can stand in one place without leaving a flat spot on the wheel.
Non-marking, low-particle compound Floors stay clean near stencil printing and conformal coating stations.
Machined core with low runout Straight tracking means less drag, less noise and fewer jams at conveyor transfer points.

Polyurethane offers the best overall combination of abrasion resistance, load bearing and non-marking performance for ESD-sensitive PCB handling. Custom hardness from Shore A 70 to 95 is available from our factory as a professional custom solution.

Product Details – Construction and Bonding

Tread. Cast conductive polyurethane with dispersed carbon black, finished to either a smooth or lightly textured surface depending on your floor. Black is standard for conductive grades because the carbon loading itself gives the colour.

Core. Steel, stainless steel or aluminium, machined to your bore and hub dimensions. The core face is prepared before casting so the polyurethane bonds both mechanically and chemically to the metal.

Bonding. A failed bond is the most common cause of tread separation in low-cost PU wheels. We control surface preparation and curing temperature to keep the tread attached through heavy braking and side loading.

Hub and bearing options. Plain bore, keyway, press-fit ball bearing, stainless bearing for washdown areas, or a fully custom hub that matches your existing axle.

Sizing. Common diameters run from 50 mm to 200 mm, with widths from 20 mm to 60 mm. Non-standard sizes are produced from a new mould or a modified existing mould, and we will tell you honestly whether a new tool is required.

ZHXPRECI factory overview for polyurethane wheel production
Client meeting at our factory for industrial wheel orders

We are a China-based manufacturer of polyurethane wheels, rollers and custom PU components for industrial handling equipment, serving clients in more than 50 countries since 2010. Our work concentrates on the practical problems factories meet every day: wheels that wear too fast, wheels that mark the floor, and wheels that quietly fail the plant’s ESD requirements. Over the years we have produced static dissipative and antistatic wheels for PCB assembly plants, electronics contract manufacturers, automation integrators and material handling distributors across Europe, North America and Southeast Asia.

We are not the top-volume supplier in the market and we do not try to be. What we offer is direct access to the people who actually cast and machine your wheels, professional advice on what will and will not work for your application, and consistent quality on repeat orders. Whether your project is a single custom size or a long-term OEM, ODM or OBM programme, you deal with the same technical contact from the first drawing to the last shipment.

Factory and Equipment

Our Workshop and Equipment for Static Dissipative PU Wheel Production

Certifications and Quality Control

ISO 9001 certificate for polyurethane wheel manufacturer

Our factory operates under an ISO 9001 quality system, and the conductive compounds we use arrive with full material documentation. Depending on the destination market, we can supply RoHS or REACH declarations for the tread compound.

Incoming urethane and carbon-black masterbatch are checked before casting. Finished wheels are inspected for diameter, bore accuracy, hardness, runout and surface resistivity, and every batch is traceable through the production record. Inspection reports travel with the shipment, so your receiving team has the paperwork from day one.

Production and Inventory Policy

Lead time: Actual lead time depends on raw material supply, machine capacity and seasonal workload, so it can move by a reasonable margin. Once your order is confirmed we will give you the most accurate delivery estimate we can and keep you updated at every stage.

Stock status: We normally produce to order rather than holding stock, though a small number of fast-moving standard sizes are kept on the shelf. Those quantities change daily with sales and production, so please contact us to confirm live availability before you place a large order.

Bulk and urgent orders: For high-volume or urgent requirements, talk to us early about capacity and scheduling. We will do our best to fit your timeline, and if a date cannot be met we will say so honestly rather than promising something we cannot deliver.

Frequently Asked Questions – Static Dissipative PU Wheels for PCB Assembly

Can you make these static dissipative PU wheels to our own drawing and resistivity target?

Yes, that is the core of what we do as a China-based OEM/ODM manufacturer. Send us a drawing, a sample or even a sketch with the main dimensions, and we will come back with a quote, a suggested compound and a hardness recommendation. We work from your resistivity target, whether it sits at the lower end of the 10⁶ to 10⁹ ohm band for sensitive assemblies or closer to 10⁹ ohm for general handling. Custom bore sizes, keyways, bearing fits and tread profiles are all produced in-house, and we are comfortable with OEM and ODM projects where the wheel carries your own part number. This is how we deliver a truly custom solution for static dissipative polyurethane wheels for PCB assembly.

How do we know the wheels will actually control static on our PCB line?

Each production batch is measured with a surface resistance meter, and we record the readings against the batch number. Those reports can be shipped with your order or sent by email, which gives your ESD coordinator real evidence rather than a generic certificate. The conductive carbon black is dispersed through the full tread thickness, so conductivity does not stop working once the outer surface wears down. We still recommend verifying a sample wheel on your own line before a large release, and we are happy to send trial pieces so you can do exactly that.

What is your MOQ, and can we start with a small trial order?

Our standard minimum is around 50 pieces per size for a first production run, but we regularly accept smaller trial batches when a customer needs to validate performance or fit before committing to a volume order. Trial quantities are quoted individually because tooling and setup are shared across the run. Once the design is approved and repeat orders begin, the MOQ drops and the unit price improves.

Can these wheels be fitted to our existing PCB handling trolleys and SMT carts?

In most cases yes. The critical dimensions are the bore, the hub width and the overall diameter, so if you send those three numbers together with a photo of the mounting arrangement, we can match the wheel to your existing cart without modifying the frame. If the original wheel was an insulated rubber type, the swap is normally direct. For carts that run on powered rails or have a fixed axle height, tell us the load per wheel and the running speed so we can keep rolling resistance within limits.

How is the price set, and how do you keep it competitive?

Price depends mainly on diameter, core material, compound grade, hub complexity and order quantity. Because we cast and machine in our own factory in China, we control the moulding, the core turning and the assembly steps instead of buying them in, which removes a layer of margin from the final number. For volume orders we can offer wholesale pricing, and for customers with a steady forecast we can hold agreed pricing over a longer period. Send us your target quantity and we will give you a clear breakdown rather than a single vague figure.

What are your lead times, and what can affect them?

Most custom sizes ship in roughly 15 to 30 days after the sample is approved. The main variables are raw material supply, how busy the casting line is during peak season, and the complexity of any new tooling. If your project is urgent, tell us the deadline at the enquiry stage so we can check capacity before you commit.

What payment, shipping and warranty terms do you offer?

We normally work on a deposit before production and the balance before shipment, with terms open to discussion for repeat customers. Wheels are packed on pallets or in cartons with protective wrapping, and we ship by sea, air or express courier depending on order size. Every shipment leaves with an inspection record. If a wheel does not match the approved sample, contact us with photos and batch details and we will replace or credit it after reviewing the case.
