Description
Custom Wide Tread Polyurethane Wheels for Uneven Floors
Why Choose This Wide Tread Polyurethane Wheel
The wide tread profile is the heart of the design. On a jointed concrete aisle, a narrow wheel carries the full load on a few square centimetres, so it hammers the slab edge and transfers every bump straight into the frame. Our wider tread distributes that same load across a larger surface, reducing point pressure on the floor and smoothing the ride for the goods on board. The real benefit for you is fewer damaged pallets, less stress on bearings and welds, and a cart that is noticeably easier to push or tow by hand.
Our cast polyurethane is formulated for high rebound and high tear strength rather than for lowest cost. It returns energy after each impact instead of absorbing it permanently, which is why the wheels hold their roundness far longer than a soft rubber alternative and do not mark coated or epoxy floors. In the abrasion and compression testing we run before shipment, the compound is checked for hardness consistency and rebound, and the results are recorded batch by batch as documented evidence for our quality claims.
Typical applications: transfer carts, warehouse trolleys, AGV and automated guided vehicles, heavy-load dollies, assembly line platforms, and outdoor yard equipment running on poor floor conditions.

Material Properties
The performance of a polyurethane wheel is decided less by the name of the material than by its hardness, rebound and tear behaviour. The figures below describe the compound we normally use for uneven floor applications.
| Property | Value and Practical Meaning |
|---|---|
| Hardness | Shore A 80 to 95, balanced between load capacity and grip on rough ground |
| Tensile strength | Around 35 to 45 MPa, resisting radial cracking under repeated load |
| Tear resistance | High, so tread edges resist cutting on metal chips, gravel and expansion joints |
| Abrasion loss | Low, giving a long tread life even in continuous towing duty |
| Rebound resilience | 40 to 55 percent, keeping rolling resistance low and the ride smooth |
| Compression set | Low, so wheels keep their shape and do not develop flat spots when parked loaded |
| Oil and chemical resistance | Good against mineral oils, greases and most dilute industrial chemicals |
| Hydrolysis resistance | Polyether based grades recommended for damp, washed or outdoor environments |
| Floor effect | Non-marking, protects epoxy, tile and painted concrete surfaces |
| Noise level | Noticeably quieter than steel or nylon wheels on the same aisle |
Choosing the right hardness is usually the single decision that most affects wheel life on a poor floor. As a working guide from our production experience: Shore A 80 grips best and passes the least vibration into the frame, so it suits lighter carts and sensitive loads; Shore A 90 is the grade we quote most often for general warehouse trolleys and transfer carts, because it balances tread life with shock absorption; Shore A 95 and Shore D grades are chosen for very heavy loads, but they transmit more shock, so we normally pair them with a thicker tread or a larger diameter to keep the ride stable. If your floor mixes smooth and broken sections, tell us the worst part of the route and we will recommend a compromise grade rather than a single generic figure.

China OEM/ODM Factory for Custom Polyurethane Wheels

We are a China based manufacturer and supplier of polyurethane wheels, rollers and custom cast parts, serving industrial buyers, equipment builders and wholesale distributors worldwide. Our team has spent more than ten years working with material handling equipment, AGV and transfer cart builders, so we understand what fails first in real service: tread chipping on poor floors, bearing seats that loosen, and hardness that varies from batch to batch. Our production and inspection routines are set up to control exactly those points. Because we handle tooling, casting, machining and assembly in house, we can act as a single OEM and ODM partner rather than a trading intermediary, giving you fewer handover points, more transparent pricing and faster answers on customization. Whether you need a standard wheel at wholesale price or a completely custom design, we are happy to review your drawing and give honest advice on what is achievable.
Factory & Equipment

Our facility covers polyurethane casting, metal core preparation, precision machining and final assembly. Key equipment includes CNC lathes and machining centres for hub and bore work, casting lines with controlled temperature and curing cycles, hardness and rebound test instruments, a dynamic balancing bench, and a load testing rig for finished wheels. Metal cores are degreased and prepared before casting so the bond between polyurethane and core holds under shock loading, and every production batch is checked against the agreed hardness and dimensional tolerances before packing. For export orders we prepare documentation, export packing and container loading in house, with shipping arranged from major Chinese ports to destinations worldwide.
Quality Control and Certifications

Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001, and we hold our in-house processes and raw material suppliers to top quality standards. Depending on the market you serve, we can also supply material test reports, hardness and rebound data, RoHS or REACH related declarations where applicable, and packing lists prepared for third party inspection. If you work with a nominated inspection agency, we are used to coordinating pre-shipment checks on site.
Customer Visits
Buyers from Europe, North America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia visit our factory each year to review moulds, watch sample casting and confirm inspection procedures. We welcome factory visits and video audits, and we are glad to arrange a walkthrough of the production line and quality records during your stay. Seeing the process first hand is often the fastest way to build confidence in a new supplier.
Production & Inventory Policy
Lead time: Actual lead time is influenced by raw material supply, machining capacity and peak season workload, so reasonable fluctuation is normal. We provide as accurate a delivery estimate as possible once the order is confirmed and keep you updated throughout production.
Stock status: In principle we produce to order, although a number of fast-moving standard sizes are kept in stock. Real stock quantity changes daily with sales and production, so please contact our team to confirm live availability before ordering.
Bulk and urgent orders: For large volume or urgent requirements, please talk to us early about capacity and scheduling. We will do our best to fit your timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions – Wide Tread Polyurethane Wheels
Can you customize the tread width, diameter and hardness for my application?
Yes. Customization is our normal way of working. Send us the wheel diameter, tread width, bore, hub material, load per wheel and the floor condition, and our engineers will recommend a hardness and compound grade. If you already have a drawing or a worn sample, we can reverse engineer it. New moulds usually take three to four weeks to prepare before sample casting begins.
How do wide tread polyurethane wheels behave on cracked, jointed or coated floors?
The wider contact patch is exactly what makes these wheels suitable for uneven floors. Load is spread over a larger area, so the wheel bridges small cracks and joints instead of dropping into them, and floor pressure is reduced. The high-rebound polyurethane absorbs the remaining shock rather than passing it into the frame, which keeps the ride stable and reduces vibration damage to the goods being moved.
What load capacity can a single wide tread polyurethane wheel carry?
For our custom wide tread polyurethane wheels, a typical working range is 200 kg to 1500 kg per wheel, depending on diameter, tread width, core design and hardness. As a rule of thumb, allow a safety margin above the calculated static load, especially where the floor is uneven and the load shifts during travel. Tell us the total weight and number of wheels and we will advise on the right combination.
What is the minimum order quantity, and can I get samples first?
For a new custom mould, the minimum order quantity is generally 50 pieces. For sizes we already produce, smaller trial orders are possible. Samples are available, and for genuinely new designs we usually produce a small trial batch so you can test the wheel on your own floor before committing to volume. Test results from your site are very useful to us as well.
What are your lead times for bulk and urgent orders?
Standard production is usually 15 to 30 days after order confirmation, depending on size, quantity and current capacity. Lead time can shift with raw material supply and peak season demand, so we confirm a realistic schedule in writing with each order. For urgent requirements, contact us before placing the order and we will check whether capacity can be rearranged to meet your timeline.
Which payment and shipping terms do you accept?
We normally work with T/T and L/C at sight, and other terms can be discussed for long term partners. Shipping is arranged by sea, air or express courier depending on order size and urgency, with export packing suitable for container loading. We ship from major Chinese ports and can work with your nominated forwarder if you prefer.
Do you offer OEM and ODM service with our own branding and packaging?
Yes. We accept OEM and ODM projects, including your logo on the wheel or hub, custom colours, customized packaging and printed labels. If you have a design concept rather than a finished drawing, our engineering team can develop it with you and produce a sample for approval before mass production.
How do you control quality, and what warranty applies?
Every batch is inspected for hardness, dimensions, bonding quality and appearance before packing, and inspection records can be supplied with the shipment. Our quality system is certified to ISO 9001. We offer a warranty against manufacturing defects, typically twelve months from shipment, and we handle any verified defect by replacement or credit. Wear caused by overload, abrasion or unsuitable floor conditions is outside the warranty, but we will always help you find a better specification if a wheel is not performing as expected.
Looking for a Reliable Manufacturing Partner?
Send us your drawing, load requirements or a worn sample, and we will come back with a quotation, a hardness suggestion and a sample plan. Whether you need a single trial wheel or a wholesale volume order, our custom wide tread polyurethane wheels are for sale in single units, trial batches and bulk volumes, always with full OEM/ODM support. Our team is ready to support your project from design to delivery.
