Description

Custom Corrosion Resistant Polyurethane Wheels for Pier Carts

Salt spray, constant moisture and heavy rolling loads wear out ordinary wheels on a working pier long before the tread is actually used up. Our custom corrosion resistant polyurethane wheels for pier carts are molded from a marine-grade PU compound that resists hydrolysis, oil, salt and UV exposure, and they are cast directly onto a carbon steel or stainless steel core so the tread stays locked in place under load. Because the polyurethane is cast rather than glued, it holds its shape and hardness through years of wet service, which means fewer wheel changes, less dock downtime and a steadier roll for operators pushing loaded carts across expansion joints and grated decking. As a China factory with more than a decade of export experience, we build these wheels to your drawings in trial and wholesale quantities, with full OEM and ODM support, professional advice on hardness and bearing selection, and a competitive price for buyers in every market.

Why Choose Our Polyurethane Pier Cart Wheels

Pier carts work in one of the harshest material handling environments there is: salt air, standing water, abrasive grit and uneven surfaces. A wheel that swells, cracks or delaminates becomes a safety issue, not just a maintenance cost. That is why we build these wheels around top-grade cast polyurethane and a corrosion resistant core, and why the design decisions below matter in daily use.

  • Marine-grade PU tread. A cast polyurethane formulation with high hydrolysis resistance keeps its hardness after prolonged contact with water and salt, while standard rubber and low-grade PU harden, crack or break down. The practical result is a wheel that keeps rolling smoothly instead of being replaced every season.
  • Stainless steel core options. For splash zones, deck wash-down areas and permanently outdoor piers, we supply 304 or 316 stainless steel cores and stainless bearings, giving a corrosion resistant solution that survives continuous wet service with minimal maintenance.
  • Cast-on bond instead of an adhesive layer. The tread is cast directly onto a prepared core, so there is no glued interface to fail under shock loads or repeated immersion. In our in-house cyclic load tests, the bond holds without separation.
  • Non-marking and floor-friendly. Polyurethane does not scuff painted decks, aluminium ramps or concrete quays, and it rolls noticeably more quietly than steel or hard nylon wheels.
  • Made to your drawing. Diameter, width, bore, hub length, keyway and hardness are all customizable, so the wheel fits your existing pier cart axle without modification.

Product Details & Customization Options

Every pier cart is different, so we treat each wheel as a custom project rather than an off-the-shelf part. Send us a drawing, a sample, or even a photo with key measurements, and our technical team will review it and come back with a suggestion on hardness, tread profile and bearing type.

  • Tread profile. Flat, rounded or crowned profiles, with optional chamfered edges to ease the wheel over deck joints and ramp lips.
  • Hub and bore. Bore from 8 mm to 50 mm, with keyway, set screw, bearing housing or plain bore to match your axle.
  • Colour and marking. Standard natural colour or pigmented polyurethane, with laser or moulded marking for OEM branding.
  • Bonded assemblies. Wheels can be supplied as complete units with brackets, mounting plates or swivel casters.
  • Packing. Individually wrapped, then carton and pallet for export, with custom packaging available for OBM customers.

Client meeting at our factory for industrial wheel orders

We are a China-based manufacturer and supplier of custom polyurethane wheels, rollers and casters, serving material handling, marine, food processing and general industrial markets since 2010. Our plant covers around 8,000 square metres, employs roughly 90 staff, and runs dedicated PU casting, CNC machining and assembly lines. More than 60 percent of our output ships to overseas buyers in Europe, North America, Australia and Southeast Asia, and a large share of that volume is repeat business from distributors, cart builders and equipment manufacturers who need a steady, consistent source of supply.

We do not claim to be the biggest factory in the industry. What we offer is a focused, professional team that answers technical questions quickly, quotes honestly, and keeps the specification stable from the first sample to the tenth container. If your project needs a customized solution rather than a catalogue part, that is exactly the work we do best.

Lead time: Actual lead time depends on raw material supply, production scheduling and seasonal demand, so it can vary reasonably. We will give you as accurate a delivery estimate as possible once the order is confirmed, and keep you informed of any change along the way.

Stock status: We generally do not hold finished stock, although a small number of fast-moving standard sizes are kept on hand. Those quantities change with sales and production, so please check with us for the current stock position before placing an order.

Bulk & urgent orders: For large volumes or tight deadlines, please talk to us early about capacity and scheduling. We will do our best to fit your timeline.

Frequently Asked Questions – Polyurethane Pier Cart Wheels

Can you produce pier cart wheels to our own drawings and dimensions?

Yes. Customization is our normal way of working rather than an exception. Send us a drawing or a sample with dimensions, and we will confirm the core material, PU hardness, bore and bearing type, then produce a sample for your approval before the production run. For OEM and ODM projects we can also work from a photo and a set of key measurements if a full drawing is not available.

Which polyurethane grade works best in permanent saltwater splash zones?

For constant splash or immersion, we recommend our Shore A 90 marine compound combined with a 304 or 316 stainless steel core and stainless bearings. Standard PU can absorb moisture over time and lose hardness, while this formulation is selected for hydrolysis resistance and holds its mechanical properties in wet service. We can also supply a slightly softer Shore A 85 version where grip on wet steel decking matters more than rolling resistance.

What is your MOQ and delivery time for custom corrosion resistant polyurethane wheels?

Our standard wheels are for sale from 100 pieces per size, and we accept lower trial quantities for new projects so you can test performance before scaling up. Delivery time is typically 15 to 25 days after sample approval, but it can shift with raw material supply and production scheduling, so we will confirm a realistic date when you place the order.

How do you control quality before shipment?

Each batch goes through incoming material checks, in-process casting inspection and final tests for hardness, tensile strength, tear resistance and abrasion loss. Cores are checked for coating thickness and fit before molding. We keep batch records for every run and support third-party inspection on request, so you can verify the goods before they leave our factory.

Can the wheels be fitted with stainless steel cores and bearings?

Yes. For piers, fish markets and other permanently wet environments we regularly supply 304 or 316 stainless steel cores with stainless bearings or plain bores. This combination removes the two most common failure points on a standard wheel, the plated core and the carbon steel bearing, and keeps the wheel turning freely after years of exposure.

How should I choose wheel hardness for a heavy pier cart?

Hardness is a trade-off. A harder wheel, around Shore A 95, rolls more easily under heavy loads but offers less grip on wet or oily surfaces. A softer wheel, around Shore A 80 to 85, grips better and protects deck surfaces, but deforms more under load. Tell us the load per wheel, the running speed, the floor type and whether the surface is wet, and our engineers will give you a specific recommendation for your application.

What payment methods and shipping terms do you accept?

We normally work on T/T with a deposit before production and the balance against the bill of lading copy, and we also accept L/C at sight for larger orders. Shipping terms can be quoted as FOB, CIF, CFR or DDP depending on your preference, and we can arrange air freight for urgent or sample shipments.

Do you offer a warranty on the polyurethane bond?

Yes. We stand behind the cast-on bond and offer a limited warranty covering delamination under normal working conditions. If a wheel separates from its core within the agreed warranty period and the load and environment match the original specification, we will replace it. Terms are confirmed in the order contract so both sides know exactly where they stand.

Looking for a reliable manufacturing partner for corrosion resistant polyurethane wheels?

Tell us your wheel size, load and working environment, and we will come back with a quotation, a hardness suggestion and a realistic lead time. Custom samples and volume discounts are available.
